Midweek 4WD Club Inc. was formed in September 2013 to cater for those who prefer to do most of their four-wheel driving during the traditional working week (Monday to Friday). We are a club open to new members.
Members share a love of the bush and regularly enjoy driving and camping in it. We aim to avoid damage to the environment as well as our vehicles. We always encourage safe and responsible driving.
We support the aims of Four-Wheel Drive Victoria and the Four-Wheel Drive Victoria Code of Ethics.
Whatever the purpose of our trips, our aim always, is to be out in the bush having lots of fun with our club friends. Our regular club trips ensure we can spend an average of 8 days in the bush per member per year and our convoys can travel more than 40,000 kms per year when you add all the participating vehicles.
Our driving activities are intended to account for the different tastes and interests of members. Activities try to cater for differing levels of driving experience. We cater for all types of four-wheel drive vehicles.
Some day trips do not even leave the bitumen, other trips on backroads will not need to engage 4WD. However, sometimes we need to carry full recovery gear and climb steep tracks (sometimes rutted and rocky), ford rivers or tackle multiple sand dunes or do vehicle recoveries.
We aim to enhance the driving experience of less experienced members by conducting workshops on various topics such as:
• G.P.S. trip planning and navigation
• Map reading
• Vehicle recovery techniques
• Trip leading
Meetings:
Our monthly club meetings are relaxed gatherings of members and visitors, held during the middle of the day. Our meetings are held on the last Wednesday of the month at the Tende Beck Scout Hall, off Paul Street Doncaster (Melways Map No.46, Reference J1).
Membership requirements:
Before qualifying for membership visitors need to attend at least 3 trips, combining four wheel driving and some camping.
Membership Fees (2022/ 23):
Joining Fee: $65.00 per person
Single Membership: $105.00 per person
Joint Membership: $135.00 per couple
From 1st January 2023 Pro-Rata Membership fees would apply.
Vehicle Minimum Requirements
If you are contemplating becoming a visitor on one of our club trips please note the requirements listed below.
• Your vehicle is roadworthy and fully maintained.
• Must have a fully operational, permanently mounted UHF radio in your vehicle. Minimum amount of recovery gear is needed for some trips.
• Rated Recovery Points fitted on the front and rear of your vehicle.
• Road tyres are only suitable when participating in trips rated as Easy. On all other trips All-Terrain tyres/ Mud-Terrain tyres would be necessary – Medium or Difficult.
